Things to know about PreZero Pyral
Sustainable aluminum recycling
PreZero Pyral is synonymous with resource-saving industrial policy in conjunction with green environmental policy. Using varied innovative technology, such as Pyrolysis technology Pyradec®, which we developed ourselves, this location is able to accept any metal-bearing waste. This process has been commercially applied for 15 years and has become responsible for the utilization of approx. 60 % of the aluminum lightweight packaging accrued in Germany.
Using our modern procedure for aluminum processing and aluminum recycling we can obtain a finished product with an aluminum block yield of at least 90 % (Pyralu®).
Aluminum recycling using Pyrolysis
The emergence of scrap and lightweight metals, such as aluminum, is changing in our fast-moving times. Products are exchanged quicker and the life cycle of scrap, metal and aluminum is becoming increasingly shorter. As a consequence, the amount of waste is increasing - and so is the amount of recycling from PreZero’s perspective. All the more important that there’s sustainable utilization and extraction of recyclable materials from metal and aluminum waste using extensive measures for aluminum recycling. In accordance with the principle of sustainability the aluminum parts are extracted and pooled in the form of raw materials. The secondary materials from production are used for energy generation and for the preparation and Pyrolysis processes in the recycling loop. In this way, aluminum is obtained from commercial waste, with economically efficient production in conjunction with ecological consideration.
Recyclable material production through aluminum processing
The unique, synergetic integrated concept from PreZero Pyral is based on sustainable principles. As such, recyclable material production doesn’t just result in homogenous, metal products that can be reused, but also in the sustainable thermal utilization of organic attachments to the metals without use of oxygen and therefore without combustion. For instance, the vapors, a by-product of the Pyrolysis process, are also used to obtain electrical energy from heat we generate ourselves.
This innovative recyclable material production is made possible through the combination of unique system technology. At the Freiberg/Sachsen site PreZero Pyral operates an environmentally-friendly and resource-saving Pyrolysis facility, a self-developed fluidized bed installation (Pyradec®) and precise laser sorting with state-of-the-art technology.
This combination makes extensive mechanical sorting and thermal utilization of materials possible. Organic or qualitative contaminated materials, among others, can be cleaned and recycled in homogenous particle sizes to the product loop. The specially developed non-ferrous metal sorting detects a high number of different metal types simultaneously and sorts them down to a single-origin. The separation of individual alloys using laser sorting is conducted on a mixed material stream. Metallic fine fractions with sizes under 6mm can be separated and condensed using special density separation and granulation so they can still be used as granules or additive products. All this makes the targeted preparation of individual alloys, selected from mixed recyclable materials, possible, so they can be used again as equivalent materials in the loop.
Aluminum as a raw material in line with customer’s needs
The result of this unique procedure is the conversion of common waste and scrap into high-quality aluminum raw materials, which can be adapted in form and alloy to customers’ needs. The prepared material can be returned to the market in all forms, including ingots, dubs, pyramids, sows and in liquid form.
